Organic Bug Killer - Do you need one?

If you are looking for an organic bug killer you may want to first think about how your organic garden is laid out. Organic gardens should be arranged in such a way that the pests take care of themselves.

Many times new organic gardeners see bugs in their garden and possibly eating their plants and they freak out. Good news is that most bugs in the garden aren't there to harm, even if they are snacking on leaves.

The problem with killing bugs in the garden is that you can't really pick and choose which bugs you kill or deter. Many organic garden bugs are actually helpful and can improve your plants as well as eat harmful bugs.

When you suspect there may be a problem your first instinct should be to observe.

  • Does the plant appear to be dieing?
  • Is the fruit or flower of the plant effected?
  • Is the plant still growing?

It should take you a few days to observe the plant. Taking pictures is always a great idea if you have your cell phone handy. This way you can observe the plants progress by exact comparison to determine if organic bug killer is even necessary.

Organic Bug Killer - Simple Recipe

Sometimes nature goes a bit bonkers and we need to step in. One of the great thing about organic bug killers is that they can be made from plants in the garden.

One of the most versatile plants that can be grown in a variety of climate is this first thing most organic gardeners turn to for pest control. That wonderful little bulb is what we call garlic.

Try this simple fix for many different organic garden pests. Simply put a whole garlic and about 1-2 cups of water in a blender or food processor. Grind to a pulp. Strain. Spray on plants.

Lighter concentrations should be used on younger plants. You should also observe plants over a period of time in order to determine effectiveness and dose.

For added effectivness you might try addiding any one of these extra ingredients:

  • chili pepper
  • vegetable based soap (few drops)
  • vegetable oil (teaspoon)
