To Spray or Not to Spray - Organic Pest Control for Stink Bugs

If you want a safe organic pest control for stink bugs there are many options available. Often times people immediately turn to some sort of toxic spray which kills all bugs on contact and destroys whole colonies of eggs. The problem with this is it can be harmful to pets, children, yourself, and the environment.

Stink bugs are a generally harmless bug if left un-agitated. When agitated it lets off a odor hence it's name "stink bug". They are often attracted by light and this can cause a huge problem if you happen to live in prime breeding grounds. They do not bite so don't be alarmed if you see mass amounts of these guys hanging around your windows and doors.

The problem with spraying these bugs is that they will eventually come back if they are attracted to your lights. Thankfully there are other solutions than living in the dark forever. If you have lived in your home for several years and this is the first time that you are seeing a good deal of stink bugs around your home you may just want to consider using a mild detergent spray around your doors and windows. While this will deter other useful bugs it will be a quick easy fix.

This has been a huge year for stink bugs in North Carolina. I've seen more recently than I had seen in my whole life up to this point! Next year I'll plant sunflowers to distract them from the front door.
