Procrastination

What is so fascinating about the word procrastination that there
have been such huge searches on Google for this word! Was it to find
its meaning or was it find out if there was anyone, any celebrity or
great personality who was a culprit of procrastination and what were the
consequences of this sin they would perhaps commit day in and day out.
Assuming that would be the main purpose of that search it is little
comfort that just because celebrities and great personalities indulged
in it that one could get solace out of it. The google search is
innocent. It will present every single document that has the word
‘procrastination’ in it.
May as well elaborate on the
consequences of dilly dallying which are indeed dire. Here was someone
who dilly dallied getting ready for his flight and managed to just
about be the last person to check in. What’s the big deal one might ask.
It indeed was a big deal. Not only was his luggage put on hold and kept
separately he was subjected to the worst search ever as he was kept
under surveillance stripped naked to check for any likely bombs he would
be hiding – it could be anywhere. Why would anyone rush in at the last
moment unless he was a terrorist. No doubt he was cleared but when he
landed at his destination he realized his baggaged had not arrived. He
spent another 8 hours at the Airport waiting for his bag which finally
did arrive by the next flight in tatters.
The proverb ‘Stitch in
time saves nine” is the twin sibling of procrastination. It is no
different. There was this secretary who delayed filing papers and her
boss would ask her “can you look for it in your pile (instead of file).
It would take her hours nay days to search for the paper that her boss
was in a mighty hurry to procure. Rest one can leave to ones
imagination.
Who can forget the maxim ‘Procrastination is the
thief of time”
